 Madeline Fried is an artist & educator from San Francisco, California with a formal background in fine art & archaeobotany. Her work spans multiple visual mediums, including scientific botanical illustration, immersive installation, found object sculpture, large scale textile work, and intricate bronze casting. Madeline is interested in pushing the boundaries of a given medium and dissecting the human body as a metaphor for larger natural systems. She is motivated by alternative agriculture movements, and has studied and practiced permaculture & biodynamic farming. Her day-to-day work involves training children & adults in design, construction, and engineering skills, to give them tools & techniques to create things bigger than themselves.
